Events in Colchester County this weekend

Here are a few of the events taking place locally:

Summer Jammin’

AUG. 7  - Hidden Hilltop Family Campground, Glenholme, starting at 6:30 p.m., Sponsored by the Hidden Hilltop Campers Association.

Drop-in knit, crochet group

AUG. 7 – Truro library. 3 to 4:30 p.m. Bring yarn and needles. Patterns and written instructions will be available. For ages eight and older.

Community refreshments

AUG. 7 – Young Street Gospel Hall, beside the fire hall. 10:30 a.m. to noon. Every Thursday. Free coffee, tea and snacks. Everyone welcome.

Open door prayer for the community

AUG. 8 – First Baptist Church, Prince Street, Truro. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Offering personal prayer for people in the community. Wheelchair accessible to the church’s sanctuary.

Ice cream social

AUG. 8 – Music and ice cream. Little White Schoolhouse Museum, NSCC campus. 2 to 4 p.m. Five cents a cone.

Card game, 45s

AUG. 8 – Good Neighbours Club. 21 Palmer St., Truro. 7 p.m. Includes 50/50.

Yard sale

AUG. 9 – Malagash Area Heritage Association is hosting the sale. 9 a.m. to noon. Malagash Community Hall, 1926 North Shore Rd. Call 257-2407 to arrange pick up or drop off of donated items. 

Summer carnival

AUG. 9 – Colchester SPCA. 408 Industrial Ave., Truro. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Barbecue, carnival games, prizes, bouncy houses, face painting and more.

Farmers’ Market Week

AUG. 9 – Truro Farmers’ Market. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Look at the Past. Agriculture in Colchester County with displays by the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Farm Equipment Museum, Colchester Historeum and Colchester East Hants Public Library.

Gospel coffee house

AUG. 9 – Truro Nazarene Church.  7 p.m. Music by Freedom Road and Friends. Lunch to follow. Free-will offering.

Yard, bake sale

AUG. 9 – Abundant Life Victory Church, 54 Dunromin Ave., Bible Hill. 8 a.m. to noon. Assortment of items.

Cribbage

AUG. 9 – Good Neighbours Club. 21 Palmer St., Truro. 1:30 p.m. Includes 50/50.

Bass River Heritage Day

AUG. 9 – Celebrating local heritage. Bass River Heritage Museum. 10 a.m. Displays of antique engines, tractors, cars, bake sale, quilt and textiles showcase, cake auction, miniature boat race, barbecue and more.
