TRURO – Four consecutive Friday nights of outdoor entertainment will highlight the 2014 Riverfront Park Concert Series which gets underway July 4.

This is the third year for the series which attracts hundreds of people of all ages to Riverfront Park at the corner of Walker and Bayview streets.

The series is presented by the Town of Truro Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture. The concerts are free and will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. every Friday in July.

The 2014 lineup:

July 4 – 7:00 p.m. ACA-Jam

July 11 – 7:00 p.m. Julie Johnstone and Friends

July 18 – 7:00 p.m. The McCready Brothers

July 25 – 7:00 p.m. Adam Cotterill

ACA-Jam, featuring Truro area youth, was launched two years ago, and recently released its first CD. The band performs mainly French and Acadian songs, with a few English cover tunes mixed in.

Fiddler Julie Johnstone of North River will present a lively one-hour performance, along with several other young talented musicians ranging in age from 7 to 17. The music will be a variety of waltzes, jigs and reels, with some singing and dancing thrown in.

The McCready Brothers of Truro have been playing together for more than 30 years. Join Jim and AT for an hour of easy-listening blues music, featuring guitar, vocals and harmonica.

Powerful vocal and acoustic performances by Truro’s Adam Cotterill are rooted in much of the folk rock for which the Maritimes are known.

Truro Parks, Recreation and Culture also presents Sunday concerts in Victoria Park all summer long. The concerts are free and are held from 2 to 4 p.m. A list of upcoming performers between now and early September is available online at www.truro.ca, or by calling 893-6078.
