BEDFORD - Four children from a Bedford school were taken to hospital Monday afternoon after their school bus was cut off by another car.

Halifax Regional Police on scene near where this school bus was cut off by a car.

Just after 2:30 p.m., police spokesman Const. Pierre Bourdages said a bus carrying about 40 students from École Beaubassin was forced to stop abruptly at the intersection of Bedford Highway and Larry Uteck Boulevard.

“The bus was cut off by a vehicle,” Bourdages said.

Richard Landry, spokesman for the Conseil Scolaire Acadien Provincial (CSAP), said a car had crossed right in front of the bus so the driver “had to jam the brakes abruptly.”

Bourdages said four students were taken to the IWK Health Centre in Halifax with minor injuries.

All of the parents were contacted, and some students were placed on another bus while some waited for their parents to pick them up, Landry said.
