TRURO - Canadians are encouraged to wear red Tuesday in support of the fallen RCMP officers from Moncton, N.B.

Official portraits of slain officers, from left, Const. David Ross, 32, originally of Victoriaville, Que.; Const. Fabrice Georges Gevaudan, 45, originally of Boulogne-Billancourt in France; and Const. Douglas James Larche, 40, of Saint John, N.B.

Last Wednesday constables Dave Ross, Fabrice Gevaudan and Douglas Larche were killed and two officers were injured.

A gunman holding rifles wearing military camouflage opened fire on police, which led to a 30-hour manhunt and the suspect’s capture.

The Facebook event, which was created by wives of other RCMP officers, has more than 32,000 people signed up to participate.

“Wear red on Tuesday to show that the fallen, wounded, their families, and all members of the RCMP are in our hearts,” the post says.

A public regimental funeral is being held Tuesday at Moncton Coliseum for the fallen officers.
