TRURO – A 34-year-old Truro man has been charged with stunting after driving at a high rate of speed through a residential area on the Truro Heights Road.
The vehicle was initially clocked on radar at 94 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, but accelerated to 110 km/h.
The vehicle was stopped by Colchester RCMP without incident and the driver was charged with stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act and the vehicle was impounded.
If convicted, the offence carries a fine of $2,418.95 plus any impound fees on the vehicle.
Colchester RCMP and other police services will be out in force at strategic locations during Canada Road Safety Week. The seven-day campaign runs from May 13 to 19.
The collaborative effort by Canadian Police Services will be targeting high-risk driving behavior that puts drivers and others at risk.
