Bedford man injured in accident near Kemptown

KEMPTOWN – A 62-year-old Bedford man was airlifted to hospital in Halifax on Sunday following a crash on the Trans Canada Highway.

The collision occurred at 5 p.m. in the westbound lane between exits 18 in Kemptown and 18A in Mount Thom.

Preliminary investigation revealed a tractor trailer was parked on the shoulder of the highway when it was rear-ended by a pick up truck.

The driver of the pick up truck sustained serious injuries, while the tractor trailer occupants – a man and woman – were uninjured.

The cause remains under investigation and an RCMP traffic analyst was called in to assist. Traffic was diverted on while the investigation continued.
