The following are a few of the events taking place throughout the county this weekend, beginning Friday.

Weekend events in Colchester County

Roast pork supper

MARCH 21 – Debert legion. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Supper for $10 includes main meal, dessert, tea or coffee. Everyone welcome.

Lenten chowder luncheon

MARCH 21 – Immaculate Conception Church hall. 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Haddock or corn chowder, rolls, dessert. Haddock chowder: $8; corn chowder: $7; children under five get in for free. Tickets available at the door. Takeout available.

Old-time dance

MARCH 21 – Douglas Street Recreation Centre. Every Friday in March. 7:30 p.m. Shared lunch, door prize. Sponsored by the Y Senior Citizens Group. Open to ages 50 and older. Admission: $5.

Open Door community prayer

MARCH 21 – First Baptist Church’s sanctuary, Prince Street, Truro. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Offering personal prayer to the community. Wheelchair accessible.

Tween Lego

MARCH 21 – Truro library. 3:30 to 5 p.m. For children eight and older. Registration opens March 14. Register at 895-1625.

Pancake breakfast

MARCH 22 – Truro and District Lions Club, 1100 Prince St., Truro. 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pancakes, beans, bacon, sausage, toast, refreshments. Adults, $8; children 12 and younger, $6; five and younger get in for free. Maple products for sale. Proceeds for the Colchester Food Bank.

Community volunteer income tax program

MARCH 22 – Truro library. Completion of income tax forms for low income people. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 895-4183 for an appointment. Drop-ins welcome.

Crib tournament

MARCH 22 – Royal Canadian Legion, Tatamagouche. 1 p.m. Bar and lunch services. All money returned as prizes. Wheelchair accessible. $20 per team of two.

Classic casserole supper

MARCH 22 – Peniel United Church, Five Islands. 4:30 to 6 p.m. Variety of classic casseroles, salads and desserts. Adults, $10; children 12 and younger, $5. Takeouts available. Sponsored by the United Church Women.

Chowder luncheon

MARCH 22 – Holy Trinity Hall, Maitland. 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Choice of chowder or chili. Adults, $10; children, $5. Proceeds for the Parish of Maitland.

Country dance

MARCH 22 – Stewiacke legion. 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Music by the City Lights Band. Shared lunch, 50/50 draw. Members and guests.

Pancake maple syrup brunch

MARCH 22 – Malagash Community Hall. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade pancakes, baked beans and brown bread, sausage, real maple syrup, dessert, juice, tea and coffee. Adults, $8; children 12 and younger $4; preschoolers get in for free. Storm date is March 23.

Community breakfast

MARCH 22 – Canadian Air Force Association, 22 Cottage St., Truro. 8 to 10:30 a.m. Cost: $6.

Gospel coffee house

MARCH 22 – Bass River Baptist Church. 7 to 9:30 p.m. Refreshments. Free-will offering.

Pancake, maple syrup brunch

MARCH 23 – North River fire hall. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local entertainment. Adults, $10; seniors, $9; five to 12 years old, $5; children younger than five get in for free. Proceeds to the fire brigade.

Breakfast/brunch

MARCH 23 – Royal Canadian Legion, Tatamagouche. Sausage, bacon, pancakes, eggs, toast, fruit cup, refreshments. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adults, $7; children under 12, $4; preschoolers get in for free. Takeouts available. Wheelchair accessible.

Traditional hymn sing

MARCH 23 – Truro fire hall. 6 p.m. Hosted by Lighthouse Mennonite Church.

Jam session

MARCH 23 – Great Village Masonic Lodge, 30 Station Rd. 1 to 5 p.m. Open mike, dance floor, shared lunch, refreshments. Donation at the door.
