TRURO – If you haven’t had a chance to show your affections with a special Valentine’s Day gift there is still time.

Valentines Day (MC)

A recent national survey conducted by Canada’s BargainMoose.ca showed chocolate, flowers and electronics are at the top of the wish list. Jewelry, clothing and gift cards ranked slightly lower in popularity.

If you aren’t sure how much is too much to spend, 90 per cent of the people surveyed say they plan to spend less than $100 with the vast majority, 71 per cent, planning to spend less than $50.

“The poll shows that Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a lavish budget busting affair, and that expectations are quite reasonable among partners,” said BargainMoose co-founder Anna Waters, in a news release. “The overwhelming view among Canadians is that Valentine’s Day is a made- up celebration and people generally don’t feel pressured to deliver an extravagant gift.”

The survey also showed  only 17 per cent of respondents feel pressure to deliver an amazing Valentine’s Day gift to their special someone and    58 per cent are comfortable buying discounted merchandise online and are prepared to plan ahead.
