ANTIGONISH, N.S. — A provincial official says it could cost as much as $3 million to replace three salt trucks and a garage destroyed in a fire at the depot in Antigonish, N.S. last week.

Transportation Department area manager Paul Colton says he’s meeting with officials to start the planning stage of the rebuilding process next week.

He says they’re also trying to determine where new trucks can be purchased.

Colton says two salt trucks on loan from other parts of the province will stay in the Antigonish area until the end of the winter season.

The RCMP have said there was nothing suspicious about last Tuesday’s fire.

Colton says the exact cause may never be known.
