HALIFAX - A 24-year-old woman from Porters Lake is being charged with assaulting an officer after being questioned by police in the Halifax airport about an alleged mid-flight sexual act.

RCMP were called to the airport on Friday around 5:30 p.m. regarding a complaint about a pair on Air Canada Flight 610 from Toronto.

After approaching the woman and a 38-year-old man in the terminal, police say the woman became disruptive and was placed under arrest for causing a disturbance.

While being escorted from the airport she allegedly kicked and swore at police.

The Mounties say she was kept in jail overnight and was released in the morning to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Feb. 25.

The man was released at the scene.

RCMP say they expect to lay additional charges against the pair.
