Training programs announced for farmers’ markets

TRURO – Farmers’ Markets Nova Scotia is offering a new training program to current and prospective market leaders.

The training, ‘Essential Leadership Skills for Farmers’ Markets,’ will be held at Perennia Park in Bible Hill and open to Truro, Tatamagouche, New Glasgow and Antigonish Farmers’ Markets.

The program is designed to provide leaders (for example staff, active vendor members, board members and key community partners) will the skills and tools needed to guide their farmers’ market. Those involved in organizing and leading a farmers’ market in the province is recommended to complete the training.

There is no cost to attend, however space is extremely limited. The training is a total of 40 hours over six full-day sessions – Jan. 28, Feb. 4, Feb. 18, Feb. 25, March 4 and March 11. All sessions run 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
