TRURO – East end residents of Truro won’t be the only ones who have their say on town issues.
During a Truro town council meeting on Monday, Coun. Raymond Tynes said a Ward 1 meeting will be held on Dec. 9 at the Truro fire hall, beginning at 7 p.m. It will be similar to a Ward 3 meeting that was recently held in the east end of town.
Tynes, a Ward 1 councillor, said he hopes the area meetings will occur a “couple times a year” and are an excellent way for residents to express their concerns and ideas.
“It’s not to debate but to get concerns … it’s the first one we’ve had since I’ve been on council (since 2005),” said Tynes, adding he expects topics such as traffic and signage to be discussed.
Tynes told the Truro Daily News the “timing is perfect” for the ward meeting because “we will soon be looking at next year’s budget” and council may be able to get some of the concerns to staff so they can review them during the budget.
Cherly Fritz, another Ward 1 councillor, told this paper she anticipates topics such as McClures Mills and related traffic will be raised.
Fritz said she hopes people will make their contact information available so staff can followup with residents’ questions.
