TRURO – Scott Armstrong voiced his support in the House of Commons on Friday for a pipeline project that could bring oil from Western Canada to Atlantic refineries.

“A west to east pipeline would add to Canada’s long-term prosperity and economic growth,” said the Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley MP and Atlantic Conservative Caucus chair in a press release. “It would make our country more energy secure and it would provide cheap oil for eastern refineries.”

In response, Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver stated, “Our government strongly supports, in principle, a west-east pipeline that would bring lower-cost Canadian crude to refineries in Quebec and Atlantic Canada.”
