TRURO – The first Truro Bearcats game at the Rath EastLink Community Centre will be televised by EastLink TV.

The Truro Bearcats will take on the Metro Shipbuilders at 7 p.m. The televised production won’t air until Sunday at 9 p.m. and can be seen by EastLink video customers across Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

In a press release EastLink TV vice-president Michael Smith said it was an obvious choice to record the inaugural event.

“EastLink TV is passionate about local sports and has been very involved with both the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) and the new Rath Eastlink Community Centre.  We’re very excited to be here on opening day to welcome the Bearcats to their new home,” Smith said.

Truro Bearcats owner Stu Rath said the opening of new centre has garnered a lot of attention.

“This is a very special day,” Rath said in the press release. “A lot of hard work has finally paid off and people are very excited to see the new Rath EastLink Community Centre in action. It’s something that’s sure to benefit local athletes, teams, coaches and the community as a whole.”
