TRURO – A number of organizations are hoping the Town of Truro will open its purse for them.

Town council was approached on Monday by five organizations looking for grant money. The Colchester Transportation Cooperative Limited asked council for financial support to help with its operations. While no specific figure was requested, it was noted that the organization has received about $17,000 over a number of years by the County of Colchester.

In addition, the Central Nova Tourist Association asked the town for financial aid, without specifying a particular amount.

Cobequid Educational Centre is also seeking money towards its scholarship program. Town CAO Jim Langille told the Truro Daily News the typical value is $1,000.

The Fred Page Cup committee is also seeking funds. The requested amount is $2,500, while the annual Vagina Monologues production is looking for $500.

All the requests will be taken under advisement during the town’s budget deliberations.
