Topics :
Ducks Unlimited Canada Greenwing Legacy Interpretive Centre , The Alternators , Stewiacke

Not only is Shubenacadie Sam scheduled to make his annual early spring/late winter prediction, Saturday also marks World Wetlands Day.

Sam is to make his Groundhog Day prediction at 8 a.m. sharp and visitors are then invited to don a pair of snowshoes for a guided nature walk. Besides getting some exercise, participants can learn all about wild animals at the wildlife park, join in for some crafts or games activity and get your face painted, if you so choose.

The Wetlands Day activities take place at the Ducks Unlimited Canada Greenwing Legacy Interpretive Centre at the wildlife park.

Further live entertainment will be provided by The Alternators band, which will play sets of fiddle music around the wood stove from 10 a.m. to noon.

The park animal viewing area will be also open and free to all visitors from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To get to the site, take Exit 11 at Stewiacke from Highway 102. Head toward the town of Stewiacke, then turn right at the stop sign onto Highway 2. The entrance to the park is about 7 km in, on the left. Follow the duck prints to the interpretive centre.
