TRURO - At the end of the day, more than 66,000 pounds of food was donated through the annual food drive in support of the Colchester Food Bank.

Mary DeAdder, co-ordinator with the Colchester Food Bank, sorts through some of the final bags of food to arrive at the annual food drive held yesterday in Truro. More than 66,000 pounds of food were donated during the 12-hour event.

With 10 minutes remaining in the 12-hour drive, 38 pounds were needed to break that 66,000-pound mark.

With a 10-pound bag, followed by a $20 donation, only eight pounds remained.

With five minutes to spare, a vehicle pulled in and the driver popped the trunk to cheers of the volunteers finishing up the day. The car donated 51 pounds of food to make the total 66,043 pounds.
