Seventeen former classmates to be honoured in special video presentation
TRURO - It may only seem like yesterday to Cobequid Educational Centre graduates of 1978, but the reality is the class's 30-year reunion is fast approaching.
On Saturday, July 26 Truro will see the return of many former students as they reunite with their classmates of long ago.
"In 1998 the class held a very successful 20th reunion ... now here it is 10 years later and classmates are far more nostalgic," said Terry Matheson, reunion organizing committee member.
"We want our former students to come home to Nova Scotia this summer. Our class numbers were approximately 400 who reside throughout Canada and the United States."
The committee has been working diligently locating addresses and spreading the word of the upcoming reunion, which will include music, prizes, food, dancing and sharing of memories. The reunion will be held at Truro Junior High School and evening events are open to CEC grads from 1974 to 1980. There will also be a special memorial for those who have died.
"We have lost 17 classmates who will be remembered in a special way at the reunion through a video presentation and also a memorial board," added committee chairwoman Cathy Hinton.
"We are delighted to be bringing so many students back to Nova Scotia for the summer. It's wonderful for our town and a great reason for the former students to make the pilgrimage home to see family, friends and reunite with classmates," added committee member Greg Perry.
