TRURO - Two young women from Colchester County are one step closer to becoming Canada's top youth entrepreneur.
Truro's Mallory MacDonald, 22, and Shortts Lake's Meggan Colpitts, 25, are moving on to the next round of an entrepreneur contest by the Canadian Youth Business Foundation. The winner is awarded a $100,000 real estate
prize package.
MacDonald is enthusiastic about her chances of winning the competition.
"My hopes are high," said MacDonald, who earned second place with close to 900 votes. "I can't take the suspense."
Colpitts is thrilled to continue to the next stage.
"I feel that (winning) is attainable ... I'm very excited to go to the next level," said Colpitts, who placed fourth in votes with close to 400 earlier this week.
About 25 people entered the contest, submitting a video stating why they are the best choice. The top 10, by vote, create a business plan. The top three will travel to Toronto for a live taping of CBC TV's Dragon's Den. The winner will be announced on the show Nov. 13.
