TRURO - The second annual Downtown Truro Antique Fair begins today.
The event is held at the Marigold Cultural Centre today from noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Joan Gibson, co-ordinator of the event, said nine vendors from the province will participate and thousands of items will be up for grabs, including furniture, jewelery, pottery and vintage collectibles.
In addition, Saturday will feature a road show in which appraisers Louie Leroux, Rosemary Beckett and Roger Crowthers will review people's antiques for a price of $5 each. Up to three items per person will be accepted and the public is welcome to watch the road show even if they do not have articles to be appraised.
"A lot of people look for things to add to their collections," said Gibson, as to why the event draws a large crowd. "People enjoy the history of antiques and memories from the past. This type of show (offers) connections to the past and people (appreciate) that."
Admission for the event is $3.
