WINDSOR JUNCTION, N.S. - A Nova Scotia woman is dead after her car was struck today by a Via Rail passenger train about 30 metres from her home.
The Montreal-bound train was travelling through Windsor Junction, near Halifax, when it apparently struck the back end of the car at a private crossing.
Paramedics rushed the 60-year-old woman to hospital but she died.
Her car, a blue Hyundai, was smashed off the tracks and landed on its roof 10 metres from the tracks.
The train stopped about a kilometre up the tracks and resumed its journey about two hours after the collision.
Police haven't released the woman's name.
