TRURO – Printmaking will be the feature in the next exhibit at Visual Voice Fine Art here.
Artist’s Proof runs from Aug. 24 to Sept. 21, and will showcase some provincial printmakers.
The title describes the originality, passion and dedication an artist displays in choosing any of the time-consuming media encompassing printmaking, particularly when compare to the mass produced reproductions known as prints or limited prints.
The exhibit showcases a number of different techniques and media within the original printmaking realm: lithography, silkscreen, mezzotint, drypoint, wood engraving, woodcut, collagraphy, monotype, etching and more, from the traditional to the unusual. Invited artists include Ed Porter, Kath Kornelsen Rutherford, Judith Leidl, Rob Maloney, Robert Rutherford, Sally Warren, Judy Arsenault, Kristiina Lehtonen, Kate Brown Georgallas, and Bob Hainstock.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will feature artist demonstrations by Rutherford on mezzotint and Kate Georgallas pulling a print.
The gallery will also host a free print learning session on Sept. 5 at 2 p.m.
