Local authors up for Atlantic Book Awards

TRURO - Two local co-authors had their book shortlisted for two 2012 Atlantic Book Awards.

Carol Campbell and James F. Smith's ‘Necessaries and Sufficiencies: Planter Society in Londonderry, Onslow and Truro, 1761-1780' has been nominated for the Dartmouth Book Award for non-fiction in memory of Robbie Robertson, as well as the Democracy 250 Atlantic Book Award for historical writing.

The 2012 Atlantic Book Awards and Festival runs May 10 to 17. Free literary events will be held in all four Atlantic provinces, while the awards show will take place on May 17 in St. John's, NL, marking the first time the event has been held outside of Nova Scotia.

Mary Rose Donnelly, author of ‘Great Village,' has been shortlisted for the Jim Connors Dartmouth Book Award (fiction). Parrsboro author Bruce Graham's ‘Diligent River Daughter' is up against Donnelly in that same category.
