TORONTO - A Toronto auction house is selling off parts of a collection of modern made-in-Afghanistan rugs that depict weapons, warfare and aircraft striking the towers of the World Trade Center.
The small rug titled Twin Towers Attack is among the most popular of more than 50 handmade rugs being displayed in a weeklong Web auction, run by Ritchies Auctioneers.
The rug depicts two Boeing 767s crashing into the towers and shows the top floors of the buildings starting to explode.
The English words "Made in Afghanistan" are woven into the base of the carpet.
As of Monday night, the rug was selling for $325.
The auction wraps up on Tuesday.
