TRURO – A member of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board (CCRSB) has been named president of the provincial school board association.
Jamie Stevens, a member of CCRSB since 2004 who represents the New Glasgow area in CCRSB, was elected to the position during the Nova Scotia School Boards Association annual general meeting in Dartmouth on Wednesday.
“I look forward to working with school board members across the province and with the NSSBA staff to continue our work in creating a better education system for our students,” said Stevens.
Stevens recently represented NSSBA on the working committee of the province’s cyberbullying taskforce and was also honoured, in April, with the provincial education week partner award for his outstanding commitment to public education in the province.
CCRSB’s chairwoman Trudy Thompson said Steven’s new position is well deserved.
“We are extremely proud of Jamie. He is a knowledgeable, dedicated, committed member of our board and I know he will bring those same qualities to the NSSBA,” said Thompson.
