June 6-15 to include rodeo, races, swap, contests, the Big Bike

Despite how the old saying goes, “spinning your wheels” isn’t always a waste of time, especially on a bicycle. And what better time to enjoy it than during the annual Colchester Bike Week celebration, June 6 to 15.

Everyone is invited to participate in the many activities taking place throughout Colchester County during the event. Join in for the fun, the exercise and the prizes. Keep your eye out for the Big Dog events cruiser, which will be handing out Bike Week prizes throughout the week.

There are numerous events planned, including the annual Bike Rodeo, sponsored by the Truro Police Service and the RCMP; the Victoria Secret Mountain Bike Race; the Big Bike Revolution Ride down Prince Street; bike races; bike swap; bike colouring contest; and drawing contest for all students from Primary to Grade 6.

Also enjoy many trail and road rides throughout the region and more.

Events are free unless noted and remember that helmets are required on all rides and bike events.

For more Bike Week information, visit the Colchester Recreation Services website at www.colchester.ca/bike-week or email recreation@colchester.ca.

In other upcoming June events news, registration is now underway for the Fundy Senior Games, taking place in Truro-Bible Hill on June 10 and 11 for fun, fitness and friendship.

The annual event for participants 55 and over includes darts at the Truro Royal Canadian Legion; washer toss at the Cougar Dome; bowling at the Bible Hill Bowlacade; and auction 45s, Scrabble, crokinole and cribbage at the host hotel, Best Western Glengarry. There’ll also be an auction, bingo, banquet and closing ceremony.
