Campaign's top 10 accounts highlights role of local employees, volunteers

It’s with great pleasure I’m able to announce United Way of Colchester County has exceeded its $230,000 goal for its 2013 campaign. With the support of local businesses, departments, organizations and individuals, we’ve raised $236,542!

We would like to send an enormous thank you to our community for its increase of support. An increase in our campaign means more dollars are available to invest in local programs and services. This means we’re helping more individuals in Colchester County improve and change their lives.

The campaign’s success wouldn’t have happened without the incredible volunteer efforts of our 2013 campaign team and the many volunteers we rely on in each workplace. I want to say thank you to everyone who worked on the campaign and a special thanks to all the individuals and businesses that contributed.

A highlight of this year’s campaign was the energetic support demonstrated by local departments of the Nova Scotia provincial government, the employee campaign at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre and the corporate community, in particular the employees of the top 10 accounts of 2013, which include:

1. Intertape Polymer Group

2. Debert Home Hardware

3. RBC/RBC Dominion

4. N.S. Department of Agriculture

5. LaFarge

6. Dalhousie Agricultural Campus

7. Stanfields

8. Nova Scotia Community College

9. Burchell MacDougall

10. Tandus Flooring

We will make an announcement of the 2014/2015 United Way funded programs at the end of February. United Way’s Community Investment Committee will be reviewing received applications for program funding and making recommendations to the board of directors for final approval. All programs are to improve the community through United Way’s three focus areas: moving people out of poverty, building a healthy community and helping kids be all they can be.
