Bette MacDonald, The Stanfields to perform this month
I know the Marigold got its name from a boat, but this month it feels like a train. It’s non-stop action at 605 Prince Street!
December is the busiest month of the year for shows. The Marigold has something going on almost every night until Dec. 22.
From Dec. 4 to 7, the Hubtown Theatre group is putting on Norm Foster’s comedic play “Here on the Flight Path.” Hubtown always does a great job; this will be a play worth seeing.
On Dec. 10-11, we have three Bette MacDonald shows. If you haven’t seen Bette with Maynard Morrison do their ‘Tis the Season show, you are missing out on a fabulous Christmas tradition. They are hilarious.
Truro’s very own Maritime Marionette’s are doing “Jack and the Beanstock” on Dec. 12-13, and on the evening of Dec. 13 the Marigold is presenting Juno nominee Dave Gunning.
On Dec. 14, Music Nova Scotia’s Entertainers of the Year, The Stanfields, will be rocking the house, this time with their acoustic show. As a special treat, the CBC will be at the Marigold to record the show for their “Atlantic Airways” radio program.
Un Noel Acadian/An Acadian Christmas will be at the Marigold on Dec. 16, while Dec. 17 brings the Barra MacNeil’s back to our intimate little theatre.
And finally, we have Jeremy Webb performing “A Christmas Carol” on Dec. 18 and Truro locals, the Woodhouse Quintet, with Jennah Barry on Dec. 22.
For tickets, call the box office at 897-4004 and join us at the Marigold this holiday season for some wonderful music and laughter.
While all of these amazing shows are going on we are also busy getting our winter arts education programs in place!
So far, we have some excellent arts education programs in store for both children and adults. Our children’s programs include: Drama with Leana Todd, Paper Mache with Daniela Schlie, Glass Ornament Making with Sharon Laska, and I (Melanie Grant) am teaching Introduction to the Orchestra. For adults we are offering: watercolours with Nancy Samson, Spanish with Daniella Schlie and Ukulele with Angela Dwyer-James. But our list doesn’t end there; we’re confirming more instructors and programs every day.
We will have all of our winter programs up on our website by the end of December, but feel free to call the box office if you have any questions, or to sign up for what’s listed above!
The staff at the Marigold – Al, Summer, Dave, Bruce and myself – would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
