Club members want vandalism to stop

TRURO - Please, just stop breaking the windows.
That is the message Raymond LeBlanc would like to impart to whomever is responsible for smashing the window panes in the CN Pensioners' Club.
"It's getting bad now," he said, in reference to two separate windows recently broken within days of each other.
"They threw a bat through that one," the club president said, pointing to the most recent repair. No sooner was that pane fixed, however, when vandals struck again by throwing a rock through another window.
"I'd like to see them stop," he said. "We're getting so we can't afford to get all the windows done."
With a declining, aging membership, the club doesn't have a lot of additional funds and at about $200 per pop, getting windows replaced is becoming expensive, said LeBlanc, who puts the count at about 11 broken windows in recent years.
The club is located just in front of the new Truro skate park behind the Esplanade but LeBlanc said he does not believe the culprits are park users.
"We're not blaming them," he said. "We think it's other people."
LeBlanc said all the incidents are reported to police, although he understands there is little they can do unless someone is caught in the act.
But he is asking whomever is responsible to just leave the club alone.
"We're trying to keep it up as long as we can with the CN pensioners we have," he said.

Good idea, Chief Wiggam. Only a couple of things wrong with it:
    (1) it's expensive, and
    (2) the cretins are simply going to throw the missiles in between the bars.

But building on your suggestion, industrial quality screens - that's the only way I can describe what I'm thinking of: you know, not bars but heavy duty screens. Help! - would do it.

Only problem there, though is - again - it would be a very expensive solution.

How about catching the thugs, tying them to a pole somewhere, and throwing stones at them? Not big ones - I don't want to kill the little monsters, although I'm sure no one would miss them - but pebble sized.

Yeh, I know, it's the season to be jolly, but activities like this - and it's happening more and more - make me literally ill.

What a shame. The members of this club aren't causing anyone grief yet somene / some group of people have nothing better to do than toss objects through the windows of the club.

There are various laminates that can be applied to the glass but, as with other options, they are expensive. Whoever is doing this needs to grow up and act like an adult.

What a shame ! my grandfather worked for CN years ago , I think a Fundraising is what you need so you can purchase a deer cam to keep an eye on things there.

chief, thats a band-aid solution and does nothing to fix the problem. catch the litttle buggers and chuck them in jail, oh wait, we can't hurt their fragile little minds. Lets catch them and simply ask them not to do it again, that'll certainly deter them.

Really, come on. We used to reek havic around that same rail yard. But, all we did was take a few flares and flash-bangs and call it a night. For the record we only did that a couple of times, and it wasn't really damage. Enough is enough!
