The Lad Classic playing four Maritime shows next month

TRURO - Truro native Ben Healey is bringing his band to the Maritimes.

Truro native Ben Healey, left, is bringing his band The Lad Classic to the Maritimes for a couple of shows next month. Joining Healey will be vocalist Paul Stevens, bassist Mark Rynkun and Josiah Whitney on drums.

Now living in Toronto, the guitarist and his band, The Lad Classic, have two dates scheduled for Nova Scotia next month, with another two in New Brunswick.

"It's exciting and a little nerve wracking," said Healey in a press release. "I'm anxious to see how the family and friends will receive our live show, but I think they will be pleasantly surprised."

The band, which also includes vocalist Paul Stevens, bassist Mark Rynkun and Josiah Whitney on drums, is fresh off a summer of shows and festivals, having played NXNE, the Mississauga Waterfront Festival, the Budweiser New Music Festival, the Georgian Triangle Music Festival, and the Kensington Music Festival.

Pulling from various genres, a mix of classic and modern influences, The Lad Classic creates a sound that is unique and fresh; one that has caught the attention of a rapidly growing audience of fans searching for big, bold, rock n' roll.

Defined by the rhythmic wall of sound, intricate guitar work and wide-ranging vocals, the musicianship is no more evident than on the first of two debut releases: the acoustic album, Lightning.

The EP, Thunder, debuts this fall with the release of the electric version of the track ‘Cadillac Jack.' The band has recently shot a video for ‘Cadillac Jack' with renowned producer Rich Misener of Cut Cartel (Our Lady Peace, Time Giant) and is expected to be out this fall.

The Lad Classic's first stop will be at Michael's in Halifax on Oct. 3, followed by an appearance at the Split Crow in Antigonish on Oct. 4. They'll head to Fredericton, for an Oct. 5 show at The Cellar, followed by a stop at Plan B in Moncton on Oct. 7.
