TRURO - The First United Church on Prince Street is hosting its traditional Candlelight Concert this weekend.

Starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, the concert is an opportunity for residents to gather and celebrate the season by singing carols and hearing the choirs of the church.

This year, the First Baptist Church Choir, under the direction of Bette Pring, will join First United, which will return the favour the following weekend for First Baptist's Lessons and Carols Service.

Having the First Baptist choir join in makes this a first and historic event in the spirit of downtown church fellowship and cooperation.

"It will be an opportunity to show our community the vibrancy of our two church families as both churches host each other in the common purpose of celebrating the start of the Christmas season," said Malcolm Macpherson, with the music committee at the First United Church.

Admission to the concert is free, however donations will be accepted.
