CINDY DAY: A brush won’t be enough; it’ll be shovels for some

I’m watching a fast-moving low-pressure system that will have an impact on the weather, but only for some of us.

The system will travel eastward from the nation’s capital and swing off the coast into the Gulf of Maine before heading for the Avalon.

The backside of the low will brush Nova Scotia’s Atlantic coast with a light dusting of snow overnight into Saturday morning.

The system is expected to come ashore on the Avalon Saturday afternoon.

Rain is likely on the east side of the low while there could be as much as 10 cm of snow for central and western regions of the Island.

Colder weather will return in the wake of the low, but only for a day or two.

I do have some good news if you’re not a fan of the cold – a sprawling system developing over the American Midwest will bring a warm wind and lots of rain to Atlantic Canada early next week.
