Someone made off with the colours of the rainbow!

Well, not quite. This bow is meant to be white: it’s a fogbow.

It might have been the lack of colour that caught Milton D’Eon’s eye at the Pubnico Point wind farm in Lower West Pubnico, N.S., last week.

This ghostly rainbow differs from its multi-coloured cousin mainly in the size of water drops acting on incoming sunlight. In this case, the suspended droplets in the fog were very small - too small to reflect and refract sunlight like raindrops can.
