TRURO: Wardrobe change on the horizon
As of 4:25 p.m. Nov. 19, Cumberland County, Colchester County North, and Colchester County Cobequid Bay is under a snowfall warning. Snow is expected to begin Tuesday afternoon, bringing 15-25 cm.
From its humble beginnings as a weak area of low pressure over the Carolinas, the weather system has intensified to a winter storm as it heads to Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula. The cold side of the system serves up anywhere from 15 to 25 cm range to Nova Scotia, but there’s also some warm air with this one. Showers and a mix of ice pellets, freezing rain and snow are tracking on the southern edge of the weather maker. Behind the storm, the Arctic pipeline will open up. . Northwest winds gusting to 60 km/h will bring plunging temperatures, onshore snow squalls and mid-winter like wind chill to wrap up the week. There is a nice moderating trend for the weekend. Heads-up though, another messy system has its sights set on Atlantic Canada early in the week.
