Pro skater Tony Hawk and BMX legend Mat Hoffman will put on a death-defying show next year in the first event of its kind locally.
The Jackalope action sports festival will feature BMX stunts and skateboarding tricks, as well as bouldering, slacklining and vertical ramp demos, a celebration of urban athletics that will be hosted from May 15-17 at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre.
“Our community is thrilled to host the legendary Tony Hawk and Mat Hoffman in May 2020,” said RECC general manager Matt Moore in a release dated Aug. 16. “Jackalope Atlantic will also be a gateway event for the sports of skateboarding, BMX, and climbing, as all three sports make their debuts at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics
People at the Jackalope can also enjoy live music with the artist to be announced, an after-party and can try their hand at bouldering, a skateboard mini-ramp and enjoy some slacklining.
Jackalope is the largest action sports event in Canada and has been a must see in Montreal’s summer festival season for eight years.
As well as being a chance for people to enjoy displays of talent by world-famous athletes, festival organizes a competition for kids 13 and under and also gives seasoned skaters the chance to show off their talent.
