TRURO, N.S. – The Truro Bearcats square off with the Kentville Wildcats Sunday in a Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League double-header at the TAAC Grounds. Game times are 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Truro’s record heading in is 6-20, after they were defeated 9-7 Friday night at home by Halifax, while Kentville’s record sits at 10-18.

Friday, the teams went back and forth during the early innings, as the Canadians led the Bearcats 6-5 after three. Halifax moved ahead 9-5 in the sixth and Truro was only able to muster two runs the remainder of the way, making it a 9-7 final.

Craig Field took the win on the mound for the Canadians while Brandon Malally was saddled with the loss, lasting to the sixth before Jeff Chisholm came on in relief.

Halifax outhit the Bearcats 14-12.

For Truro, Justin Morton had a single and a double and drove in two runs. Matt Mingo had three singles and an RBI, while Jason Smith had a single, a double and an RBI and John Chapman added a single and drove in a run.

Josh Pelham paced Halifax with two singles, a double and a pair of RBIs, while Jake Pelham had two singles and drove in a run.

A Bearcats game slated for Thursday in Dartmouth was rained out.
