The Medicine Shoppe captures playoff title after long shootout

The Medicine Shoppe took home the Truro and Area Women’s Ball Hockey League championship after a 1-0 shootout victory over the Blaikies Charger Chicks in the final. SALMON RIVER, N.S. – The Medicine Shoppe won a thrilling final over the Blaikies Charger Chicks to capture the Truro and Area Women’s Ball Hockey League title. 

Following regulation and a five-minute overtime period, the game remained scoreless. The contest went to a shootout, where each team went through their entire rosters twice with no goals scored. A rare 2-on-0 shootout was then used, and after the 37th attempt, the Medicine Shoppe prevailed. 

The winning goal was scored by Bailee Oderkirk, assisted by Rhiannon Roy.

Goaltenders Katie Henderson of The Medicine Shoppe and Krista Angus of the Charger Chicks were brilliant between the pipes.

The win marked an incredible turnaround for The Medicine Shoppe, who finished near the bottom of the standings in the regular season.

The team expressed its gratitude to Lennie Walser of The Medicine Shoppe for his support.
