TRURO, N.S. – Four Colchester County teams are in the field for this weekend’s Nova Scotia firefighters curling championship.

The event will be played Thursday to Sunday at the Truro Curling Club.

Truro teams skipped by Randy Crowell and Dave Williams will compete, along with North River’s Kelly Terry, and Mark Crozier of Stewiacke.

The Chad Stevens rink is two-time defending champions and will enter the provincial championship as the perennial favourite. The Chester foursome won national gold in 2016 in Truro and followed up with a bronze medal at last year’s Canadian championship in Mississauga, Ont.

Other teams playing in the competitive division include Cole Harbour’s Derrick Hardy, Ted Corkum of Port Williams and Bridgewater’s Michael Nauss.

The winner will represent Nova Scotia at the Canadian championship in Thunder Bay in early April.

Eight other teams will play in the non-competitive division, including four from Colchester County – Eric Johnson (Bible Hill), Ron Crowe (Onslow-Belmont), Corrine Gillis (Truro/Shubie) and a foursome from Brookfield, which hasn’t been determined yet.

Action begins Thursday at 7 p.m.
