McIsaac named to Canadian Youth Olympic hockey team

OTTAWA – Hockey Canada announced the roster for the 2016 Youth Olympics boy’s hockey team on Thursday, with Truro’s Jared McIsaac making the cut.

McIsaac, in his second season with the Cole Harbour Wolfpack of the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League, is the lone Atlantic Canadian on the roster of under-16 players.

The team also features Quebec native Benoit-Olivier Groulx, the only player ranked ahead of McIsaac going into this summer’s Quebec Major Junior Hockey League entry draft.

The Youth Olympics will take place in Lillehammer, Norway, beginning on Feb. 12. McIsaac is the second Colchester County native heading to the games, joining Hilden’s Karlee Burgess, who will compete in mixed curling.
