The Minnesota Timberwolves waived guard Lindell Wigginton in a series of roster moves by the NBA team on Monday.

Gersson Rosas, the Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations, announced the team had signed guards Tyus Battle and Barry Brown Jr. and released Wigginton and forward Jordan Murphy.

Wigginton, of Dartmouth, played in one pre-season game with the Timberwolves and scored nine points in a win over Israeli Premier League's Maccabi Haifa on Sunday.

The 21-year-old guard signed with the Timberwolves on Sept. 4. Terms of the agreement were not released but online and social media reports said it was a one-year, non-guaranteed deal which  means Wigginton could  land  with the Timberwolves' G League affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa.

The six-foot-two Wigginton played two seasons of college ball at Iowa State, just 40 miles north of Des Moines.

Wigginton declared for the 2019 NBA draft but went undrafted. He played for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Summer League in July and in five games averaged 7.4 points and 15 minutes per game and shot 78 per cent from the free throw line.
