SYDNEY, N.S. — Drake Batherson can add another accomplishment to his list of achievements throughout his hockey career.

Batherson, the son of Norm Batherson of North Sydney and grandson of Matt and Kay Batherson, finished the calendar year with the most points in the American Hockey League in 2019.

The Ottawa Senators prospect recorded 77 points from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, finishing ahead of Jeremy Bracco of the Toronto Marlies (75 points), Reid Boucher of the Utica Comets (73 points), Mike Sgarbossa of the Hershey Bears (72 points) and Gerald Mayhew of the Iowa Wild (71 points)

In 35 games with the Belleville Senators this season, the 21-year-old has 13 goals and 43 points, along with 24 penalty minutes and a plus-20 rating.

Batherson played a season-and-a-half with the then Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, before being traded to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in January 2018.
