TRURO, N.S. – Zach Gaudet has firmly established himself as the top peewee boys’ golfer in the province.
The little lefty from Truro shot a 36-hole total 8-over-par 152 this week and comfortably captured the Nova Scotia Golf Association peewee division championship at Truro Golf Club.
Zach opened with a brilliant 2-over 74 on Tuesday – a round that included three birdies and an eagle. He took an eight-stroke lead into Wednesday’s final round and finished the tournament with a 6-over 78 for a 14-stroke victory.
Zach has been on a tear this summer, winning three previous tournaments, including last week’s Truro DQ Invitational.
Kooper MacKay of Ken-Wo finished second at the provincial tournament with 166, while Rylan Sutherland of Brookfield was third with a 36-hole score of 170. Truro’s Elliott Mullen was fourth (173), while Nicholas Penny of Brookfield was seventh (186) and Seth MacKenzie of Truro was 10th (193).
In the peewee girls division, Paragon’s Annika Parkash was crowned champion on Wednesday, posting a three-stroke victory over Abercrombie’s Avery Cohen.
The peewee tournaments were played this week in Truro in conjunction with NSGA junior championships, which wrap up Thursday.
