TRURO - Residents evacuated from Townsview Estates after a fire broke out in the electrical room early Wednesday afternoon may be able to return to their homes as early as the beginning of next week.
A total of 69 residents were displaced from the Abenaki Road complex, 37 of which have been staying at Wynn Park Villa, and the rest, with family members within the community.
"Everybody seems happy," said Louise Boyle, CEO of both Townsview Estates and Wynn Park Villa. "They are participating in the daily activities but are anxious to get back home."
Work is underway at the complex to replace the electrical panel, which was destroyed in the blaze.
"It changes from day-to-day, when they'll be able to return but we are hopeful that it will be early in the week."
According to Boyle, none of the residents were injured during the fire, but both a maintenance worker and a firefighter were taken to the
Colchester Regional Hospital as a
precaution.
"The maintenance worker was in and out in the same day, and back to work," said Boyle. "And same with the firefighter."
