TRURO, N.S. – Karlee Burgess captured an Atlantic University Sport curling title over the weekend for the Dalhousie Tigers.
The Hilden resident threw second stones for the Kaitlyn Jones rink, which went 6-0 at the championship in St. John’s, NL, to earn a berth at the USPORTS championship next month in Fredericton.
The Jones rink, which also includes Lauren Lenentine and Kristin Clarke, won the AUS title after a 10-5 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties.
Burgess is the most decorated junior curler in Nova Scotia, having won six straight provincial titles. She also has two Canadian crowns to her credit and a pair of world championships. Burgess was also a gold medallist at the Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway in 2016.
Meanwhile, the Dalhousie men’s team made it a clean sweep, as the Mathew Manuel-skipped team defeated the UNB Reds 8-3 in seven ends to win the AUS banner.
