Ellie Black got her 2019 international season off to a strong start on Sunday.
The Halifax gymnast earned a bronze medal at the 2019 American Cup in Greensboro, N.C.
Black tied with Mai Murakami of Japan for third place. Leanne Wong of the U.S. captured gold while her teammate Grace McCallum took silver.
Black had her best performance on the uneven bars. She posted the second highest score on that apparatus (14.266). She tied for third on vault (14.433), placed third on the beam (13.800) and tied for fourth on floor (13.233).
