BORDEN-CARLETON, P.E.I. — Islanders are being given a unique opportunity to run across the Confederation Bridge in August.

The Congrés Mondial Acadien 2019 (CMA2019) has announced details for the Run Under the Star event on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The event begins as 12:01 a.m. on Saturday.

Participants have a choice between a five-kilometre run or go the full 13 kilometres (which is the length of the bridge).

This event is open to those 19 years of age and older.

Anyone interested is asked to register at raceroster.com under the event name Run Under the Star.

So far, 300 people have registered since the run was first announced by CMA2019 in May. They are limiting participants to 1,000.

All participants will receive a CMA2019 run medal along with a Run Under the Star T-shirt, plus other surprises.

The run will be immediately followed by live entertainment and light snacks under the tent.

CMA2019 runs Aug. 10-24 and will held on P.E.I. and southeast New Brunswick.
