BROOKFIELD, N.S. – Brookfield Golf Club won its third straight Shaw Cup over Fox Hollow Golf Club in convincing fashion, rolling to a 19.5 – 4.5 victory in the 21st edition of the match play competition between the clubs.
The event was closer than the final score, as 12 of the 24 matches went to the 17th hole or beyond.
The competition features 12 top players from each club, who qualify via their club championships, in three match play formats.
Brookfield jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the 4-Ball segment; and edged Fox Hollow 3.5 – 2.5 in alternate shot, before dominating singles 11-1.
Leading the host team with 3-0 marks were rookie Austin McBurnie, Dane Henderson and Ted Sodero. Fox Hollow club champion Steve Zinck was best for his squad at 1-1-1.
Brookfield holds an 11-9-1 edge overall.
