TRURO, N.S. – The Truro Tide delivered a big-time performance under the lights last Friday at the TAAC Grounds.
The Tide, playing in their first Friday Night Lights of the season, defeated the Dartmouth Destroyers 12-6.
The game was part of Truro Minor Football Association’s annual Alumni Night.
The home team struck first with a Daesean Brown touchdown. Brown led the way with 20 carries and 200 yards rushing, while CJ Mahar picked up a major score and had a strong game blocking.
The Tide defense was led by Liam Cornett and Warren Julien, who both had three tackles for losses and two sacks. Parker Gil-Douglas and Ryker Dunning also came up clutch and shut down the Destroyers’ running game up the middle.
The Tide and Destroyers meet again on Oct. 12 at the Burnside turf for a 10 a.m. tilt.

PEEWEE
The Bombers battled hard but came up short in Canning, falling 14-0 to the Valley Bulldogs.
Truro made a few costly mistakes and paid for them against a very good Valley team. The Bombers moved the ball well, but were unable to find the end zone.
Next up for the Bombers is a trip to Dartmouth on Oct, 12 to take on the Destroyers. Game time is noon at the Burnside turf.
BANTAM
The Freightliners lost a hard-fought match to Dartmouth 18-15 in the second Alumni Night game at the TAAC Grounds.
Offensive contributions came from Liam Legge and Johnathan Seeton, who each scored a touchdown. Eric Field chipped in with a field goal. Defensively, the charge was led by Ryland Phillips with help from Caleb Wolthers, Aidan Johnson and James Seeton.
The Freightliners travel to Burnside Oct. 12 for a matchup against Dartmouth at 2 p.m.
