Another member of HFX Wanderers FC's core will be back in 2020.

The Canadian Premier League team re-signed midfielder Andre Rampersad on Thursday, making him the third 2019 player to commit to a return. Keeper Christian Oxner and striker Akeem Garcia are also back under contract for another season.

“It’s an awesome feeling to be honest,” Rampersad said in a news release. "I already miss Halifax. I miss the soccer too and the fans there are the love of my heart, so I’m excited to come back."

Rampersad, 24, is at home in Trinidad and Tobago where he had been fielding interest from other teams. But like his countryman Garcia, the franchise's successful launch this year made coming back to Nova Scotia an easy decision.

“The first season was amazing at the Wanderers Grounds,” Rampersad said. "They push us every time, so next season I can only imagine it will get better and we need to pay back the fans and the city of Halifax."

Putting Rampersad back in the middle will make for a solid foundation for the Wanderers. He gave the team quality minutes all season and was always around the ball.

“He showed promise every time he played but as the season went on and he started to become more comfortable, he showed the freedom to bring his qualities to the games,” Wanderers head coach Stephen Hart said in a news release.
