COXHEATH, N.S. — The MacDonald/Gallagher Peewee 'AAA' Hockey Tournament opened at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre on Friday with four games on the schedule. 

The host Cape Breton County Islanders opened the tournament with a 6-1 loss to the Truro Bearcats.

Statistics were not available at press time. 

Other scores from the opening day of the tournament saw the Cape Breton West Islanders defeated the East Hants Penguins 6-1, while the Glace Bay Miners downed the Dartmouth Whalers 6-2. Meanwhile, the Pictou County Crushers knocked off the Antigonish Bulldogs 7-5. 

The Peewee 'A' tournament also kicked off on Friday. The tournament schedule and scores were not available. 

Peewee 'AAA' Tournament Schedule:
All games at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath. 

Saturday:
8 a.m. – Cape Breton West vs. Pictou County
9:30 a.m. – Antigonish vs. East Hants
11 a.m. – Cape Breton County vs. Glace Bay
12:30 p.m. – Truro vs. Dartmouth
2 p.m. – Cape Breton West vs. Antiognish
3:30 p.m. – Pictou County vs. East Hants
5 p.m. – Cape Breton vs. Dartmouth
6:30 p.m. – Glace Bay vs. Truro
Sunday:
9:15 a.m. – Semifinal
10:45 a.m. – Semifinal
1:15 p.m. – Championship Game
